UNDERGRADUATE LIBRARY - LSA junior Rachelle Blackburn’s worst nightmare became a reality last Thursday night after she missed her first weekend night out since her start over two years ago at the University of Michigan.

“It felt really cold. I didn’t know where to go, what to do,” lamented Rachelle upon reflecting upon her first entry to the Undergraduate Library. “I was so lost.”

“Just four weeks ago I was living the dream on my slam’s porch with no worries in the world,” added Blackburn. “I have this memory of holding a flamingo beer bong in one hand and an inflatable baseball bat in the other and taking a funny picture.” Unfortunately, the Undergraduate Library’s florescent lighting caused Rachelle to restrain from uploading selfies last Thursday night.

Like Rachelle, many other University of Michigan undergraduates have replaced their nights out at the bars with trips to the UgLi, swapping relationships with the opposite sex for organic chemistry, low quality Natty Lights for arguably lower quality Michigan Mochas, and pregames with pre exam study sessions.

But the transition is not all bad. “I was actually surprised because it wasn’t super different from places where I usually go out to,” stated Rachelle. “Figuring out where to sit to study was just as difficult as deciding whether to make it STR or RTS. Plus the place was packed when I got there.”

Another distinct feature of the UgLi that is eerily similar to the local bars is the restroom situation. “It honestly made me feel so at home. I love waiting in lines when I have to pee because it gives me a chance to bond with my classmates,” stated Rachelle. “It’s also great because I didn’t get a chance to workout this week. Squats!”

Every weekend, hundreds more undergraduates make the decision to skip the bars and head to the undergraduate library because of its fabulous features. If you want to be seen on a Thursday night, the UgLi is the place to be.
